Determination of Undercut Features in Plastic Mold Design

Injection molding is an important manufacturing process. Different plastic products have been produced using injection molds such as aircraft and automobile parts, personal utensils, electrical devices, kid toys, etc. In the field of injection molding, efficiency is achieved by transmuting a product from the conceptual design stage to a real part quickly and inexpensively. The high demand for shorter design and manufacturing lead times, good dimensional and overall quality, and rapid design changes has become the bottlenecks in mold industries. This book proposes an efficient approach supporting to automatic mold design processes.

Dr. Tran Anh Son received his B.Eng and M.Eng from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT), Vietnam and PhD from National Taiwan University of Science and Technology. He is currently a lecturer of HCMUT, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. His research interests include Metal Machining Technology, Plastic Injection Molds, and CAD/CAPP/CAM.
